process.

and Domain Relay customers have immediate access to their
accounts thanks to our new automated registration process.
Free customers have always had immediate access to their
accounts.
- Ability to Edit,
Add, Delete DNS records via our new interactive web based
interface.
- Customers can automatically
add domains to their account from our web based interface,
New domains are available immediately
- HTTP Relay services
are 100% automated. Domain customers can now select DNS
records to be relayed. This functionality allows Domain
Relay customers to have a mixture of relayed DNS records
and regular DNS records.
- Linux and Macintosh
users can now manage all aspects of their domains via Netscape
v 6.0 and higher. In the past we only offered a windows
based application to manage DNS records.
Version 1.6 Release:
23 July 2001
We are excited to announce the release of version 1.6. With
this new version we have added many new features that you
the customer requested.
- Automatic off-line
redirection for basic customers. This function allows basic
customers the ability to redirect web traffic to an off-line
web page message should they choose to go off-line.
- Ability for both
domain and basic customers to save there Login information,
this function gives you the ability to place a short cut
in your startup group and have the application launch and
and automatically update your records without having
to type in your username and password.
- Domain customers
now have the ability to preview all the active records on
the DNS server, they can now edit or delete each one with
a simple double-click of the record.
- Ability for domain
customers to log in from multiple computers and select the
DNS records they want automatically updated to that computers
IP address. This function is great because it allows you
to have your DNS records updating automatically from multiple
machines.
- Basic customers
now receive a warning message when they close out of the
application that this action will remove there DNS record
from our servers. There was some confusion with the basic
customers when they closed out of the DNSApp they could
no longer access their domain. In order for the dynamic
updates to occur they have to leave the application running
on the machine they want to act as their server.
- Changed some of
the error messages to a format that easily understandable,
also included links to try and correct the problems they
were having.
- Domain customers
can now crate Round Robin records: Round robin DNS is a
method of managing server congestion by distributing connection
loads across multiple servers (containing identical content).
Round robin works on a rotating basis in that one server
IP address is handed out, then moves to the back of the
list; the next server IP address is handed out, then it
moves to the end of the list; and so on, depending on the
number of servers being used. This works in a looping fashion.
Let's say a company
has one domain name and three identical home pages residing
on three servers with three different IP addresses. When
one user accesses the home page it will be sent to the
first IP address. The second user who accesses the home
page will be sent to the next IP address, and the third
user will be sent to the third IP address. In each case,
once the IP address is given out, it goes to the end of
the list. The fourth user, therefore, will be sent to
the first IP address and so forth.
Round robin is
different than load balancing. Load balancing distributes
connection loads across multiple servers, giving preference
to those servers with the least amount of congestion.
In round robin's case, server distribution remains on
a rigid one IP address to one user rotating basis.
As an example,
let us assume that we at MyServer.org have three (3) web
servers: their real names and IP addresses are: 1/3 of
the web requests going to www.myserver.org will be directed
to 209.219.51.101.
First
visitor to www.MyServer.org Goes to |
209.219.51.101 |
Second
visitor to www.MyServer.org Goes to |
68.15.187.28
|
Third
visitor to www.MyServer.org Goes to |
209.219.51.103

We have only just
begun, if you have a suggestion that you think will better
the service please let
